About the Author
Not to praise myself but it would be important that readers of this blog knows a little about me. I have been working in the IT industry for more than 13 years and have been associated with Information Security for more than 10 years in various roles. The path of this particular area of Information Security was by choice and I must admit it has so far been a time worth spent. I started this blog with the idea to contribute and share my experience. In the end it will be a resource for me and for those seeking information on areas that I find interesting and will touch through this blog.
Why Panic Room
I have been engaged in the IT field for a long enough time now to break my silence. Working as a Information Security Specialist, the panic room was exactly the kind of area that I wanted to explore and write about. As we live in E-world of today, some prefer to call it "Online" but "line" in the word Online takes away the enormity and seriousness of the situation and give a false sense of "breaking" the line to get out of it where as the World part of E-world will give you idea that there is no escape from it. You have been invited to the party and if you just even saw the invitation, you are in and there is no way out. So instead of wasting time looking for exits, it would be wise to start living in this new E-World and adapt.
I am glad to be linked with Information Security aspect of the ever evolving IT industry. I see my role in the present and major role in the future. Though I see myself absent from the past. Yes, the Information Security existed probably ever since the Information existed and with the birth of Internet as we know it originated from the DOD bases, so security should be inherent. Its like you are born in a family of doctors so chances are that you know the medical terms but that does not make you imune to the diseases.
Lots of ideas, lots of worries that I wanted to share or just to remind myself of will be part of this panic room. This is a ultimate security scenario where you are locked in the panic room and now your best friend are the walls of this room and the tools that you have made available before the situation ever happened. Now this is an interesting dilema which we see in the Industry when it comes to security. First, why do you need a panic room, and then what should be part of the panic room, where it should be, what it should contain, and what possible situations that you should prepare yourself for and what are the odds of you been in the panic room and actually using it. This blog will covers everything about Information Security Panic Room the way I see it and what is needed to survive in the situation.
